Anti-Syrian government militants fired today afternoon tens of homemade rockets and mortar shells at different residential areas in the northern city of Aleppo, killing and injuring more than a hundred civilians.

23 civilians have reportedly been killed, including 5 children, and 3 found in body parts. Local hospitals said it received more than 97 wounded civilians.

According to eyewitnesses, the children were emerging out of Al-Rahman Mosque (reportedly a center for Quran studies) when scores of shells hit the crowed, ripping up some into pieces. Local sources also reported a whole residential building was leveled to earth, where Civil Defense air workers rescued 12 victims.

Islamic militants control most of Aleppo’s eastern neighbors, from where they systematically target government-held districts with homemade rocket shells among other local-developed weapons.
